Welcome to my home page. As part of Elmira College’s Music Department I perform regularly on campus and in the Elmira area, including annual recitals as part of the Elmira College Encore program. As a pianist/flutist/composer I often make use of the Yamaha Clavinova (synthesizer) in concert. I try to make all of my concerts a learning experience for the audience as I give interesting historical facts about the pieces and composers.
I earned my Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University of North Texas, with a specialization in analyzing the chromaticism in the late works of Chopin. My previous two degrees are in Piano Performance. As a teacher I utilize both my analytical and performance skills in the classroom.
I teach a wide gamut of courses in music, including courses in music theory, piano and music survey courses. My survey courses vary from European art music to American popular music. I also teach a ballroom dance course during Term III with my wife.
