  • On the Insert tab, click the Header button and choose Edit Header.
  • On the first page, press tab twice to align to the right.
  • Under the Design tab, press the Page Number button, choose Current Position > Plain Number.
  • To change to roman numerals, choose Format Page Numbers under the Page Number button.
  • In the dialog box that opens, choose "i,ii,iii, ..." from the Number Format Drop box and press OK.
  • Move to the page where you want the new numbering format to begin.
  • Under the Design tab, uncheck the Link to Previous button.
  • Choose Format Page Numbers from under the Page Number button.
  • In the dialog that opens, choose "1,2,3, ..." from the Number Format Drop box and press OK.
  • Verify your numbering is to you liking and save the document.
