Printing to the Open Lab Printer - PC

Connecting to the Open Lab Printer From Your Laptop Using Windows 8:

1. Go to Start>Control Panel

2. Click on the "Hardware and Sound" icon.

3. Click on "Advanced Printer Setup" under Devices and Printers

4. Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed"

5. Choose "Select a shared printer by name." Type the name EXACTLY as is appears: \\ps2\Open1
 

A new screen will prompt you to enter your Elmira College username and password. Make sure "ecadmin\" is included before your username. 

Connecting to the Open Lab Printer From Your Laptop Using Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start icon 

  • Select the "Devices and Printers" option. 

  • At the top of the window, select "Add a Printer." 

       

  • In the next window, select "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer" and click Next.


  •  After the search finishes in the next window, select "The printer that I want isn't listed."


  • Click on the circle next to "Select a shared printer by name" and type in the printer name EXACTLY as follows: \\ps2\OPEN1 and click Next
    

  • A new window will say the printer has been successfully added, click Next.
  • Finally: 1. Check the box next to "Set as the default printer" if you would like the Open Lab printer to be your default printer, 2. Click Print a test page to make sure the printer was mapped correctly, 3. Click Finish.
    

  • You have now mapped the Open Lab printer to your PC!

Connecting to the Open Lab Printer From Your Laptop Using Windows Vista:

  1. Go to Start>Control Panel

  2. Click on the "Printers" icon.

  3. At the top of the window, select "Add a Printer."

  4. Select "Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer." 

  5. Select "The Printer that I want isn't listed." 

  6. Choose "Select a shared printer by name." Type the name EXACTLY as is appears: \\ps2\OPEN1 

  7. A new screen will prompt you to enter your Elmira College username and password. Make sure "ecadmin\" is included before your username. 

Connecting to the Open Lab Printer From Your Laptop Using Windows XP:

  • Click on My Computer 
    from your desktop or the Start menu.
  • Click on the Control Panel 
    in the left side bar.The Printer Wizard Window will come up on the screen. Click Next.Select the circle next to the "A network printer, or printer attached to another computer" and click Next.
  • Click on Printers and Other Hardware.
  • Click on Add a printer.
  • The Add Printer Wizard will open in a new window, click Next.
  • Select the circle next to "A network printer, or printer connected to another computer," then click Next.
  • In the next window, select "Connect to this printer (or browse for a printer, select this option and click next)," next to Name: type the printer name EXACTLY as follows: \\ps2\OPEN1 and click Next.
    

  • The next window will say "You have successfully completed the Add Printer Wizard...". Click Finish. You have now mapped the Open Lap printer to your PC!
