IT Help Desk Assistance (Nathenson Computer Center)

If you need in-depth assistance protecting and connecting your Mac or PC computer, please contact the IT Help Desk to set up a meeting Monday - Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. You should plan to stay during the session while Information Technology staff troubleshoots your computer. In addition student consultants are available during Library open hours to provide basic assistance with connecting your computer.

Your Elmira College Username and Password

Your Elmira College account is confidential. Information Technology will NEVER ask for your password! It is against Elmira College policy to ever give out your EC password to anyone, including e-mails. Attention! If your password is mistyped three times, then your account will be locked for 20 minutes. Wait patiently and then try again or you can call 607-735-1915 during open hours to have your account unlocked. We encourage all users to go to ecpasswordreset.elmira.edu to set the security questions and answers for your account. Once set, this website can be used at any time in the future to reset your password if it is forgotten.

MyEC Portal – NEW!

Sign on to the new myec.elmira.edu web portal to access your course schedules, register for classes, pay bills, access quick link, and much more.  For a complete help guide click the Students tab at top and refer to Documentation for Students under Handouts. If you need assistance, please call 607-735-1915, e-mail helpdesk@elmira.edu or meet with IT staff in person at the IT Help Desk. 

Wired and Wireless Networks on Campus
  • Wireless access is available in all campus buildings and dorms.
  • We suggest that while in your dorm room, you use a wired connection for stability and security.  Cables are available for purchase at the McGraw Bookstore.  For security reasons network sharing of your computer and wireless access points (devices in between your laptop and wall jack such as routers, switches, and hubs) are prohibited because they will disrupt network access for others and are a security risk. The use of these devices may result in loss of your network privileges.
Register Your Laptop or Wireless Device to Access the Elmira College Network

Bradford Campus Manager protects the Elmira College network by only allowing protected computers and wireless devices registered by members of the College community. When you connect your Mac, PC, or mobile or gaming device to the College network and start a web browser, you will be redirected to the registration page: itregister/registration 

Computer and Network Use Policies: Do not Put Yourself or Your Computer at Risk!

If you do not abide by the Computer Network and Use Policies in your Elmira College Student Handbook, you may lose your privileges to use the Elmira College network and other campus technology resources. Please carefully read these policies! You should not install or use peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing programs such as Limewire that allow users to participate in searching for and downloading files to their personal computers. Downloading copyrighted materials is illegal, is a personal risk to you, and slows down the Elmira College network. In addition, these programs install add-on software (called adware, spyware and malware) that harm your computer’s operating system and gather personal information without your knowledge. 

Help for Your Computer
The IT Help Desk is ready to help you troubleshoot what may be wrong with your computer, help get your computer connected to the Elmira College Network and assist with removing viruses and spyware. You are ultimately responsible for protecting, maintaining, and fixing your personal computer. In cases of hardware problems or severe problems caused by missing or out-of-date virus and spyware protection software, the Help Desk will refer you to your vendor (the Elmira College recommended Dell laptop includes a 4-year onsite warranty and Apple MacBooks include a 3-year warranty) or to a local preferred repair vendor.  Information Technology does not provide comprehensive repair services for student-owned machines.
